Via constant jack offYoung guns, young terror PCIJ Jaileen Jimeno’s report about a UP study on how minors are recruited in private armies to serve a pagali (ruling clan) in three towns of Maguindanao.
GRABE.
Via Pinoy Tumblr.(REPOST) “My wife’s private parts were slashed four times, after which they fired a bullet into it. They speared both of her eyes, shot both her breasts, cut off her feet, fired into her mouth. I could not begin to describe the manner by which they treated her.” — Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael Mangudadatu
from Erik de Castro of Reuters. More of these here. Justice for the victims of Maguindanao massacre.

Via GO KB GO GORE: Ampatuans
During my Environmental Management class, one of the professors in my class shared an anecdote about their recent trip to Maguindanao.
“Never tell anyone that you’re from U.P. The Ampatuans know that U.P. students are greatly opposed to the mining activities here in Maguindanao. If you tell them that you’re from U.P. who knows what will happen?”
Scary.
Amputa.

Via I am NOT a unique snowflakeBy travelling without arms to perform their democratic duties in hostile territory, the 52 made their choice. We honor their example and sacrifice, as their fate continues to chill our bones. As fellow believers, we could have easily been them.
As we wait for action, we grieve. We grieve for the believers in a democratic system who paid with their lives. We grieve for the martyred journalists who believed the Constitutional protection of their rights was enough.
- from GMA’s statement on the Maguindanao massacre. I almost cried when Jessica Soho delivered this :( We salute you. (via)
